The full-time whistle goes, with Bayern holding out for a commanding 2-0 victory over the home side! After showing some positive signs in the first half, Inter's attack was blunt to say the least in the second, with both Dzeko and Martinez feeding off scraps and having next to nothing in the way of chances. Lead by Leroy Sane, Bayern continued to turn the screw, with the opening goalscorer playing the crucial part in D'Ambrosio's own goal which sealed the result. Inter will know they need to improve, but they were given very little license to play in a game dominated by the Bavarians all across the pitch.
Sane was borderline unplayable at times, cutting inside from the left at will and being crucial in everything Bayern did well going forward. His two shots on target both resulted in goals, whilst he created three chances from 26 passes in the final third. He engaged in six duels, winning two of three with the ball at his feet, and also helped Bayern's press work effectively, winning the ball four times in Inter's own defensive third.
A 5-1 win by Barcelona over Viktoria Plzen, featuring a hat-trick by one Robert Lewandowski, means this convincing victory will only send Bayern to second in Group C. However, it's the first of six games each, and with performances such as this one, you'd fancy Bayern to go toe-to-toe with the Blaugrana. Inter will shake off this loss with little difficulty, knowing they do have the quality to test the rest of the group, and they'll be eager to show a response in their next game, when they head to the Czech Republic to face Plzen.
