A fitting end to the season for Milan, who have gone 12 matches unbeaten since the campaign got back underway. They were in complete control from the off today, and a wonderful strike from Ibrahimovic – who also missed a penalty – and a brilliant goal from Castillejo, combined with Klavan’s early own goal, have sealed a comfortable win.

After their impressive end to the campaign, Milan finish in sixth, and they have Europa League football to look forward to next season. Cagliari, meanwhile, come 13th.

That is all for now, and for this Serie A season. Until next time, goodbye!

  1. 90'+2'

    FULL TIME: MILAN 3-0 CAGLIARI.22:35

  2. 90'+1'

SAVE! Donnarumma finally has a stop to make, as he dives to his right to keep out a header which was destined for the left-hand corner.22:34

  3. 90'

Simeone has had little impact today. He has made way for Pavoletti.22:33

  4. 88'

It is simply a game of keep ball now for Milan. Cagliari’s players gave up long ago, and it is a mere training exercise for the hosts.22:32

  5. 85'

With his earlier goal, Ibrahimovic has become the oldest player – at 38 years and 302 days – to score ten or more in a single Serie A season.22:28

  6. 83'

Close! Ibrahimovic skips around his marker and gets to the byline, laying it off for Bonaventura. However, his pass is just slightly off, and the playmaker is unable to get there for what would have been a simple finish.22:26

  7. 81'

Ibrahimovic has dropped back to a midfield role at the moment, and seems content with simply spraying the ball around from a position slightly right of centre. As would be expected, his passes are pinpoint.22:24

  8. 79'

Duarte, meanwhile, has replaced Kjaer for Milan.22:23

  9. 79'

A change for Cagliari, as Marigosu comes on for Ionita.22:22

  10. 76'

    We’re back up and running for the final 15 minutes of Milan’s – and Cagliari’s – Serie A campaign.22:19

  11. 75'

We’ve reached the second drinks break.22:18

  12. 72'

Milan are toying with and teasing Cagliari’s defence, which is camped back right on the edge of the box. But no way through for a fourth as of yet.22:16

  13. 70'

Those changes have rather stalled Milan’s rhythm somewhat. Not that it should particularly matter – they are in cruise control.22:13

  14. 67'

Saelemaekers’ first involvement is to receive a booking for a foul on Mattiello.22:10

  15. 66'

Bennacer has also gone off, with Brescianini coming on.22:09

  16. 65'

Calhanoglu’s season has also come to a slightly premature end. Saelemaekers is on in his place.22:10

  17. 65'

That mistake will be Castillejo’s final act, as he makes way for Maldini, who tested positive for coronavirus during lockdown but has clearly made a full recovery.22:09

  18. 64'

Frustration for Castillejo, who concedes possession with a slack pass before, in his attempts to recover it, he then commits a foul.22:08

  19. 62'

Ceppitelli has also gone off, with Carboni his replacement.22:07

  20. 62'

Pereiro has made way for Paloschi.22:07

  21. 62'

A raft of changes for Cagliari. First, Klavan is replaced by Ladinetti.22:06

  22. 61'

The resulting corner is dropped dangerously close to the back post, and Donnarumma takes no chances, palming it over.22:04

  23. 60'

Simeone finally has the chance to get a shot off, after he connects with a poor clearance from Kessie. However, his effort is blocked.22:03

  24. 58'

Cragno has received a booking for complaining that the goal was allowed to stand.21:03

  25. 57'

Bonaventura looked set to shoot after he was played in by Castillejo, but unselfishly returned it to his team-mate, who finished in style.22:01

  26. 57'

WHAT A GOAL! That is brilliant from Milan, who make it 3-0 in some style. Ibrahimovic intercepted a sloppy pass and turned the ball into Castillejo, who combined with Bonaventura before spinning clear of his marker and slotting a cool finish low into the net.

    See Samu Castillejo's player card22:01

    Samu castillejo
  27. 55'

Hernandez started the move with a powerful run. His initial pass towards Ibrahimovic was cut out, yet Castillejo was on hand to turn the rebound into the striker’s path.21:59

  28. 55'

GOOOOOAAALLLL!!! MILAN LEAD 2-0! Well, Ibrahimovic has certainly just made up for his earlier penalty miss, thundering a strike high into the right-hand corner. After latching onto a pass from Castillejo, the forward hammered an unstoppable effort beyond Cragno. That could well be game over.

    See Zlatan Ibrahimovic's player card21:59

  29. 53'

Calhanoglu drops his cross right on he head of Kjaer, but the Denmark international sends a glancing header wide.21:56

  30. 52'

Calabria is getting forward at will down Milan’s right, and has just won a free-kick in a promising position. Set-piece specialist Calhanoglu stands over it…21:56

  31. 50'

Calhanoglu’s miss, combined with Ibrahimovic’s failure from the spot, has handed Cagliari a lifeline they hardly deserve. Will they take advantage?21:53

  32. 48'

WHAT A MISS! That’s embarrassing for Calhanoglu who, from six yards out, has skewed an effort into the floor and up over the bar. Ibrahimovic was the provider with a perfect cross, but with the goal gaping, Calhanoglu fluffed his lines.21:52

  33. 46'

KICK-OFF! Milan get the second half started.21:51

  34. Leao was certainly a standout performer in the opening half-hour but he has made way with an injury, and Milan have certainly missed the forward. However, they have more than enough quality on the pitch and in reserve to see out this result and end the season on a high.21:34

  35. A strong performance from Milan in the first half, though it has ended on a sour note for them, with Ibrahimovic missing a penalty. They lead courtesy of an own goal from Klavan, who turned into his own net after Leao’s strike hit the woodwork.21:33

  36. 45'+3'

    HALF-TIME: MILAN 1-0 CAGLIARI.21:33

  37. 45'+1'

There will be three minutes added on before the break.21:31

  38. 45'

Another booking for Cagliari, as Farago is punished for pulling back Bennacer.21:30

  39. 44'

IT’S SAVED! Cagliari will feel as though justice is done, as Ibrahimovic sends a tame, low effort too close to Cragno, who guessed the right way and made a comfortable stop.21:30

  40. 43'

PENALTY TO MILAN! Calabria picks out Ibrahimovic with a looping cross, who attempts a header. It seems to come off his shoulder, but onto the raised arm of Walukiewicz. The defender did not appear to be able to do much to get out of the way, yet the referee has pointed to the spot.21:28

  41. 40'

Calhanoglu has been involved in six goals in his last three home appearances in Serie A, scoring three and making three assists. The last midfielder to score in four consecutive home games was Andrea Pirlo in 2005.21:25

  42. 38'

Bonaventura is on for Milan, with Leao, who has an ice pack on the back of his left leg, making way.21:23

  43. 38'

Bennacer is not in the side to score goals, and he has perhaps just displayed why, with a very wayward strike from range. Meanwhile, Milan have prepared a change, with Leao unable to carry on.21:23

  44. 36'

Play goes on while Leao receives treatment, with some Milan substitutes warming up in case they are required.21:20

  45. 35'

This could be a worry for Milan, with Leao having stopped due to what could have been a hamstring injury. He is receiving some attention on the touchline.21:20

  46. 33'

Milan have had over 65 per cent of the possession so far. Their performance has certainly been worthy of anothe goal before the break.21:18

  47. 31'

Milan have eased off the pressure in the last few minutes, and just allowing Cagliari to have the ball for a spell. The visitors do not look likely to pose any major problems, though.21:16

  48. 29'

Cagliari have won only one of their last 13 away games in Serie A, and that record does not appear to be ending today based on their performance so far.21:14

  49. 26'

We’ve reached the first drinks break.21:11

  50. 24'

OFF THE BAR! So close to what would have been an incredible second for Milan. Leao met a cross from the right with an audacious overhead kick. The connection is true and Cragno is rooted to the spot, but the ball rattles away off of the woodwork.21:09

  51. 23'

CHANCE! That should have been 2-0! Ibrahimovic latches onto a brilliant cross from Castillejo, but Cragno is on hand to make a superb save from the forward’s close-range volley.21:08

  52. 22'

Leao has been a star of the show so far for Milan and displays a great turn of pace to leave several Cagliari defenders in his wake. After a driving run he feeds Ibrahimovic, whose shot is deflected out for a corner.21:07

  53. 20'

Milan really have been in total control so far, with Simeone and Pereiro having hardly had a touch.21:04

  54. 18'

Should they win this game, Milan could set their record of 15 consecutive home wins against a single Serie A opponent.21:02

  55. 16'

Milan continue to apply the pressure, with Leao drilling in a cross which Castillejo meets, but his first-time effort is directed straight at Cragno.21:01

  56. 14'

Bennacer has received treatment and is fit to carry on.20:59

  57. 12'

Matters get worse for Cagliari, as Pereiro receives a booking for a foul on Bennacer, who has to receive treatment.01:32

  58. 11'

That goal had certainly been coming, though Leao – who scored with a superb strike in the win over Sampdoria last time out – is unfortunate it won’t go down as his own. Calhanoglu and Ibrahimovic were again at the heart of the move, with the pair combining to tee up Leao.20:57

  59. 10'

GOAL FOR MILAN! Well, the hosts have been on top since the off and now they have their reward – Klavan diverting the ball into his own net after Leao’s strike had ricocheted off the post and onto the centre-back’s shin. Milan lead 1-0.20:56

    Ragnar klavan(a)
  60. 10'

Ibrahimovic and Calhanoglu have formed a terrific partnership since Serie A resumed, with the latter thriving playing in a central role behind the veteran striker.20:54

  61. 8'

Calhanoglu delivers a wonderful cross from the left, which Cragno flaps at. Ibrahimovic, however, could not take advantage.20:53

  62. 5'

Cagliari have lost 41 games against Milan in Serie A so far – more than against any other opponent.20:51

  63. 3'

Almost a rather comical opener for Milan, as a corner finds its way through to Hernandez. He cannot react quickly enough, but the ball diverts off him and heads just wide of the upright.20:48

  64. 1'

KICK-OFF! Cagliari get the match underway.20:45

  65. The teams are out at San Siro and kick-off is coming up shortly.20:45

  66. Walter Zenga also makes two changes – Rog and Joao Pedro both dropping out, with Nandez and Lykogiannis coming in. Someone and Pereiro scored against Juve, and they start up top.20:37

  67. CAGLIARI SUBSTITUTES: Valter Birsa, Federico Marigosu, Leonardo Pavoletti, Isaias Del Pupo, Giuseppe Ciocci, Rafael, Alberto Paloschi, Andrea Carboni, Luca Gagliano, Riccardo Ladinetti, Alessandro Lombardi, Fabio Pisacane.20:37

  68. CAGLIARI (3-5-2): Alessio Cragno; Sebastian Walukiewicz, Ragnar Klavan, Luca Ceppitelli; Federico Mattiello, Nahitan Nandez, Artur Ionita, Paolo Farago, Charalampos Lykogiannis; Giovanni Simeone, Gaston Pereiro.20:37

  69. Just two changes from Pioli. Rebic has made way for Leao, who will start on the left but likely will be given the freedom to join Ibrahimovic. The other alteration sees Castillejo replace Saelemaekers.20:35

  70. MILAN SUBSTITUTES: Asmir Begovic, Giacomo Bonaventura, Lucas Biglia, Lorenzo Colombo, Lucas Paqueta, Leo Duarte, Alexis Saelemaekers, Antonio Donnarumma, Diego Laxalt, Marco Brescianini, Emanuele Torrasi, Daniel Maldini.20:35

  71. MILAN (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer; Samu Castillejo, Hakan Calhanoglu, Rafael Leao; Zlatan Ibrahimovic.20:35

  72. Cagliari, meanwhile, sit safely in mid-table despite winning just one of their last nine league games – though that victory did come against champions Juventus last time out.20:26

  73. Milan have a Europa League place wrapped up, as they are four points ahead of seventh-placed Napoli. Stefano Pioli’s side are unbeaten since the resumption of the season, and will be looking to make it, at the least, 12 games unbeaten to wrap up their campaign.20:21
