A thrilling Serie A clash comes to an end with the scores level at 3-3! Momentum turned one way and then the other at San Siro, with Ibrahimovic opening the scoring in the second minute before Dzeko levelled things up. Saelemaekers put Milan back ahead, but Veretout netted a contentious penalty to restore parity for a second time. Ibrahimovic’s spot-kick looked to have sealed the points for Pioli’s side, yet Kumbulla snatched a share of the spoils for Roma.

Milan still top the table, though their 100 per cent record has now been ended. Roma remain ninth, on eight points from five games.

That’s all for now. Until next time, goodbye!

  1. 90'+5'

    FULL TIME: MILAN 3-3 ROMA.22:43

  2. 90'+4'

SO CLOSE! Another huge chance for Milan! Calhanoglu creates it with another brilliant delivery from a corner. Romagnoli connects with the cross, only to send his header wide of a gaping goal!22:40

  3. 90'+1'

We’re into four minutes of stoppage time at San Siro.22:38

  4. 90'

Ibrahimovic charged into the area and controlled a pass from Castillejo, but the offside flag was swiftly raised.22:38

  5. 89'

CHANCE! That should have been the winner for Milan! Kessie met Calhanoglu’s corner, but directed his header straight at Mirante.22:34

  6. 86'

Veretout has gone off, making way for Villar. With his earlier penalty, Veretout has now scored six goals in his last seven league appearances, with five coming from the spot. 22:31

  7. 84'

GOOOOAALLLL!!! ROMA ARE LEVEL! What drama we have at San Siro! Tatarusanu again fails to impress as a corner is whipped in from the left, and Kumbulla is on hand to head in at the back post. It's 3-3!

  8. 82'

Hernandez picks up a booking for a bad foul.22:29

  9. 81'

More bookings. Cristante has hardly been on the pitch long, but has already been cautioned.22:29

  10. 79'

GOAL! Ibrahimovic has his second! Roma’s players are furious, but Milan’s striker kept his cool to hammer home a low finish, sending Mirante the wrong way. It’s 3-2 to Milan!

  11. 78'

Is this a penalty?! I think it has been given! Calhanoglu got into the area and was under pressure from Mancini. He appeared to go down easily, but the referee has pointed to the spot!22:23

  12. 78'

A red card has been shown by the referee, now, though it seems to have been directed at one of Pioli’s assistants. It has to be said that, since that contentious penalty decision, the official has lost control of this match.22:22

  13. 77'

Another booking, this time for Pedro, who lunged in late on Hernandez.22:21

  14. 76'

Roma have also made a substitution, with Pellegrini making way for Cristante.22:21

  15. 75'

Ibrahimovic has gone into the book.22:21

  16. 72'

Leao has also been taken off. Pioli likely saw him as a red card risk, and has brought on Castillejo in his place.22:20

  17. 72'

Two changes now for Milan. Saelemaekers has gone off, with Krunic coming on.22:20

  18. 72'

The replays clearly showed that Pedro stood on Bennacer’s ankle, yet VAR decided not to overturn the penalty call. Milan are furious, but the scores are now level.22:18

  19. 71'

GOAL! Veretout makes no mistake from the spot. It's 2-2!

    Jordan Veretout
  20. 70'

Leao has received a booking for his complaints over the decision.22:15

  21. 69'

PENALTY TO ROMA! Tatarusanu spills a shot and, in his attempts to clear it, Bennacer clatters into Pedro. The Milan midfielder came off worse, but the referee pointed to the spot, with VAR upholding the decision.22:15

  22. 66'

Karsdorp has gone off. Peres is on in his place.22:12

  23. 64'

It looks as though the Milan forward will be fine to carry on. In the meantime, Roma have prepared a change.22:11

  24. 62'

Leao has gone down following a collision in the Milan area, and will need some treatment.22:11

  25. 58'

Now Pedro tries his luck, but his effort is blocked. The former Chelsea forward has scored in each of his last two Serie A games; the last time he found the net in more consecutive league matches was in 2011 with Barcelona.22:05

  26. 56'

Mkhitaryan has a go from the centre of the area, but he slices wide to the right. Roma are upping the pressure, but Milan seem content to try and hit them on the counter.22:04

  27. 54'

Ibrahimovic races onto a long pass from Kjaer, but the offside flag goes up.22:00

  28. 52'

OVER! Dzeko races onto a cross after a quick Roma counter, but the striker can’t keep his first-time effort down.21:59

  29. 49'

Roma have won only one of their last eight away Serie A games played in Lombardy (D4 L3), a 3-0 victory against Brescia last July.21:57

  30. 47'

Leao has had a fine game from his position on the left. The youngster’s pace was crucial there as he left two defenders in his wake before picking out a composed pass to his team-mate.21:53

  31. 47'

GOAL! MILAN HAVE THE LEAD! The hosts scored in the second minute of the first half and they’ve now scored in the second minute of the final period! Leao again created it, driving down the left and drilling in a cross which Saelemaekers thumped home. Milan 2-1 Roma!

Kick-off! We are back up and running at San Siro.21:50

  33. Milan will need to step up the intensity if they are to preserve their perfect record in Serie A this term. After a dismal start, Roma have sured things up at the back and look a real threat on the counter.21:35

  34. The scores are level at the interval, after an end-to-end first half. Milan took the lead inside two minutes – Ibrahimovic prodding in his fifth league goal of the season – but an error from Tatarusanu gifted Dzeko an equaliser.21:34

  35. 45'

    HALF-TIME: MILAN 1-1 ROMA.21:33

  36. 43'

SAVE! That’s a fine stop from Mirante, who dived to his right to keep out Calhanoglu’s curling free-kick.21:31

  37. 42'

Ibrahimovic is hauled down 25 yards out, and Milan have an opportunity three minutes before half-time…21:31

  38. 41'

Milan clear a Roma corner and break pace. Leao drives inside before drilling a pass out to Hernandez, but his cross is a poor one. Possession is recycled back out to the left, with a long diagonal thumped out towards Ibrahimovic, only for the offside flag to cut the move short.21:29

  39. 39'

Milan are committing plenty of men forward, but that is leaving them exposed on the counter. Spinazzola leads a Roma charge, with Kjaer on hand to deal with the wing-back’s cross.21:28

  40. 37'

Roma look to get away on the break, but Dzeko fails to find Pellegrini with an attempted pass. The striker felt he was fouled, but the referee is having none of it.21:25

  41. 35'

No team has won more matches than Milan across the top five European leagues since football restarted post lockdown, who have 13 victories, the same as LaLiga champions Real Madrid. 21:23

  42. 32'

Somewhat unconvincing goalkeeping from Tatarusanu, who looked rather awkward as he kept out a strike from Ibanez, before reacting well to keep out Pellegrini’s follow up.21:21

  43. 31'

OFF THE POST! Kjaer meets Calhanoglu’s inswinging corner and glances a header goalwards. Two Milan players attempt to make contact, but fail to do so, and the ball clips away off the upright.21:20

  44. 30'

SAVE! Romagnoli wins a towering header which was flying in, until Mirante lunges across to parry it wide. It was at a comfortable height for Roma’s goalkeeper, though it was a good stop nevertheless.21:20

  45. 29'

CLOSE! Some pinball in the Roma area results in Hernandez getting a shot away from the edge of the area. Mirante was rooted to the spot, but the strike takes a deflection which sends it wide.21:17

  46. 26'

After Milan’s confident start, Roma have really grown into the match since hauling themselves level. However, it is a rather scrappy affair, with neither side finding their rhythm in the last 10 minutes or so.21:15

  47. 25'

Ibrahimovic wants a penalty after his backheel bounces into the arm of Kumbulla, but the defender could do little to get out of the way.21:16

  48. 24'

Milan have won their last two home Serie A games against Roma; the last time the Rossoneri won three consecutive matches against the Giallorossi at Meazza stadium was back in 1996, under Fabio Capello.21:13

  49. 21'

Roma clear a corner but it falls to Calhanoglu, who lets rip from 25 yards out. His shot is low and powerful, but Mirante gets down to it.21:12

  50. 19'

Some shaky defending from Milan allows Karsdorp to get in behind, but his shot is blocked.21:09

  51. 18'

Dzeko scored a double in Roma’s 5-2 win over Benevento in their last Serie A outing, and that header was his third of the season. The 34-year-old netted 16 times in the league in 2019-20.21:07

  52. 16'

Milan had looked extremely comfortable, but that piece of goalkeeping from Tatarusanu will certainly give Roma plenty of confidence.21:05

  53. 14'

Pellegrini's corner was well struck, and well met by Dzeko, though Milan's goalkeeper has to have a look at himself for his part in that goal.21:04

  54. 14'

GOOOOAALLLLL!!! DZEKO EQUALISES! That is abysmal goalkeeping from Tatarusanu. He has been given his chance with Donnarumma out, but the Romanian was all at sea as he rushed out to try and punch Pellegrini’s corner clear. He missed it completely, allowing Dzeko to head in and make it 1-1!

  55. 13'

Roma are getting some joy in the left-hand channel. This time it’s Mkhitaryan who finds space, but once more Kjaer is on hand to nudge it out for a corner.21:02

  56. 12'

Hernandez’s willingness to drive forward down the left is freeing up Leao to drift inside and find pockets of space, while on the right flank, Saelemaekers is keeping the width for Milan, stretching Roma’s defence.21:00

  57. 10'

Vital defending from Kjaer, who gets across to prevent Dzeko – who had driven into the area from the left – getting a shot off. The resulting corner is whipped into a dangerous area, but Milan clear their lines after some solid work from Leao.20:58

  58. 8'

That goal has settled Milan, and they are knocking it about with real purpose. Bennacer is usually the metronome in midfield, but this time he tries to get beyond the last man and get onto a pass from Ibrahimovic. Mirante had read it, though, and rushed out to collect the ball.20:56

  59. 6'

Ibrahimovic has now scored five Serie A goals this season. The 39-year-old is the talisman in this Milan side, and is showing no sign of showing down.20:54

  60. 4'

After a streak of four consecutive defeats, Milan have won three of their last five Serie A matches against Roma (D1 L1), including a win in the most recent encounter, in June 2020.20:53

  61. 2'

It was a brilliant ball from Leao, who drifted in from the left and floated a delightful cross in behind Roma's defence, which had switched off completely.20:52

  62. 2'

GOOOOOOAALLLLLL!!!! MILAN TAKE THE LEAD! What a start for the Serie A leaders, as Ibrahimovic latches onto a brilliant pass from Leao and prods home beyond Mirante, who dived the wrong way. Less than two minutes gone, and the hosts lead 1-0.
