The first Milan derby of the Serie A season ends in a 1-1 draw between Milan and Inter at San Siro. Hakan Calhanoglu fired Inter ahead from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Franck Kessie. Milan responded as Stefan de Vrij turned Sander Tonali's free-kick past Samir Handanovic. The Nerazzurri then spurned the opportunity to regain the lead when Lautaro Martinez saw his strike saved by Cirprian Tatarusanu. Both teams missed a host of good chances in the second half, with Alexis Saelemaekers coming the closest when he was denied by the post in the dying minutes. However, neither side could force a winner and were forced to share the spoils.
Serie A halts for two weeks for the international break. When it resumes, Milan are in action on 20 November on the road to Fiorentina. Inter play at San Siro in their next match against Napoli on 21 November.
