There goes the full-time whistle! Inter steamrolled Bologna, with Martinez, Skriniar and Barella all scoring in the first half. Vecino opened the scoring after the break, with Dzeko then netting twice. Theate nodded in for the visitors late on, but it was no more than a consolation. It finishes 6-1 to Inter, who move at least temporarily to the top of Serie A!

Inter travel to face Fiorentina next, while Bologna host Genoa.

  1. 90'+1'

    FULL-TIME: INTER 6-1 BOLOGNA19:54

  2. 89'

SAVE! Dimarco latches onto another clever reverse pass by Sanchez towards the left byline and strikes towards the near post, but Skorupski blocks it and it goes behind off Medel. 19:54

  3. 86'

Barrow played the corner from the left short and moved into a deeper position before spotting Theate in space and finding him with an accurate, looping cross.19:52

  4. 86'

GOAL!! BOLOGNA HAVE ONE BACK! Barrow takes a corner short and gets it back before curling a cross to the far post where Theate is, inexplicably, completely unmarked and heads past Handanovic! It's a mere consolation, but Skriniar is furious at the lax marking and at being denied a clean sheet. It's 6-1!

  5. 85'

WIDE! Sanchez plays a sharp reverse pass to Dimarco just inside the box and the left wing-back arrows a shot across goal, but he somehow sends it wide of the target!19:49

  6. 83'

Dijks can't deal with Dumfries as the Inter wing-back pops the ball past him and hauls his opponent to the ground, earning himself a booking.20:01

  7. 81'

Inter won both games last season against Bologna; the last time the Nerazzurri collected three consecutive wins in Serie A against the Emiliani was in 2010, under Jose Mourinho.19:45

  8. 79'

WIDE! Dumfries once again pops up in a dangerous position on the right and Dzeko finds him well with a ball in behind. The right wing-back cuts inside and goes for goal himself for a change, but can only rifle a low effort just wide of the bottom-right corner.19:43

  9. 77'

The tempo of the game has slowed dramatically. Bologna are not attacking with any conviction and Inter have eased off with the contest won.19:41

  10. 74'

There's also a change for Bologna, as Mihajlovic replaces De Silvestri with Theate.19:39

  11. 74'

Meanwhile, Brozovic is brought off, with Gagliardini taking his spot at the base of midfield.19:39

  12. 74'

Inzaghi makes another couple of changes as the final quarter of an hour approaches. The first alteration sees Bastoni replaced on the left side of the back three by Kolarov.19:38

  13. 72'

Inter are set to extend their winning run of home league games to 18; only three teams in Serie A history have embarked on a longer winning run on home soil: Torino in 1948 (21), Milan in 1950 (19) and Juventus in 2014 (25) and in 2017 (33).19:36

  14. 69'

Mihajlovic responds with a change of his own, replacing Dominguez with Van Hooijdonk.19:34

  15. 68'

GOAL!!! DZEKO SCORES AGAIN!!! Sanchez, fresh off the bench, slides the ball towards the byline for Dzeko and the striker is given time to weigh up his options before lashing high past Skorupski from a very acute angle! It's 6-0 to Inter now!

  16. 67'

De Vrij is also brought off, with Inzaghi bringing Ranocchia on to take his place at the heart of the back three.19:34

  17. 67'

With the game well and truly won, Inzaghi makes a couple of changes. Martinez is afforded a rest, with Sanchez coming on to replace him alongside Dzeko.19:33

  18. 65'

Inter have now scored at least two goals in each of their last nine Serie A matches: the last time they went on a longer such streak was in February 2007 (10).19:30

  19. 62'

GOAL!!! DZEKO SCORES THE FIFTH!!! Brozovic looks to pass the ball to Martinez's feet on the edge of the box with his back to goal, but the striker pulls off an outrageous dummy that fools the whole Bologna back-line and allows Dzeko to toe-poke past Skorupski! Inter lead 5-0.

    Edin Dzeko
  20. 62'

The assist is awarded to Brozovic but, in reality, Martinez deserves the credit for his tremendous feint before allowing the ball to run through for Dzeko, who reacted sharply to finish.02:31

  21. 61'

Barrow's first significant contribution from the bench is to cut inside from the left and blast an effort at goal, but he gets too much on the strike and fires over.19:28

  22. 58'

Bologna had started the second half with intent, but that fourth goal has really dented the visitors' confidence and heads are starting to drop.19:29

  23. 55'

The final change is at left-back, with Hickey replaced by Dijks in a like-for-like swap.23:54

  24. 55'

The second player to be hooked is Svanberg with Vignato coming on to the field to try and salvage some pride from the game.23:54

  25. 55'

Mihajlovic has seen enough and promptly makes a triple-substitution. Sansone is the first man off, with Barrow taking his place out wide.23:54

  26. 54'

GOAL!!! VECINO GETS IN ON THE ACT!!! Dimarco surges down the left and delivers a teasing low ball across the six-yard box. Dzeko and Dumfries can't make contact, but Vecino receives it at the back post and takes a touch before lifting the ball into the roof of the net! It's 4-0 to Inter now!

  27. 52'

SAVE! Barella feeds Brozovic on the edge of the area and the midfielder lashes towards the far corner, but Skorupski dives across to make the save! It falls to Martinez on the right side of the box, but the striker rushes his effort and blazes over the bar!19:16

  28. 50'

CROSSBAR! Dumfries cuts into the box from the right and neatly evades his man before feeding Martinez, who thumps a ferocious effort at goal that smacks the crossbar and hits Skorupski before bouncing away!19:14

  29. 49'

CHANCE! Sansone is sent scurrying away down the left and he slides the ball across goal for Arnautovic, but the forward can't quite make contact with it on the slide!19:12

  30. 47'

WIDE! Bologna break and Hickey drives towards the edge of the box before lashing towards the near post, but he just sends his effort the wrong side of the upright!19:10

  31. 46'

We're back underway for the second half!19:07

  32. Mihajlovic's side have simply been outclassed in the first half. They enjoyed a greater share of possession and looked comfortable on the ball, but Inter have been clinical and are counter-attacking with real purpose. 18:56

  33. There goes the half-time whistle! Inter have been ruthless in the first 45 minutes, scoring within six minutes as Dumfries' low cross was turned in by Martinez. Skriniar headed Dimarco's corner in on the half-hour mark to double the hosts' advantage, and Barella profited from a poor clearance to add a third just four minutes after that. It's 3-0 to Inter at the break!18:54

  34. 45'+1'

    HALF-TIME: INTER 3-0 BOLOGNA18:51

  35. 44'

SAVE! Dzeko clips a lovely ball into the path of Dimarco, arriving into the left side of the box and lashing a volley into the ground that Skorupski has to dive to his right to beat away!18:51

  36. 43'

Inter build more patiently for a change and force Bologna back until Vecino decides to hit one from distance and sees his effort blocked away.18:50

  37. 41'

Inter have had less possession than Bologna overall but look far more threatening when they do have it. Dumfries has been particularly useful down the right with his driving runs forward.18:48

  38. 39'

Bologna continue to look comfortable on the ball but have looked blunt in the final third in the last 20 minutes.18:47

  39. 36'

Hickey earns himself a deserved yellow card for hauling Dumfries down cynically as the Inter wing-back burst in behind him.18:42

  40. 34'

GOAL!!! BARELLA MAKES IT THREE!!! Dumfries gets down the right and plays a neat one-two before sliding a dangerous ball into the six-yard box. De Silvestri tries to poke it clear, but only succeeds in finding Barella, who reacts sharply to redirect the ball into the net! It's 3-0 to Inter!

  41. 32'

Bologna have been punished by some clinical Inter finishing. The hosts have had three shots so far and two of them have ended up in the back of the net.18:41

  42. 30'

Dimarco's cross had plenty of pace and was into a dangerous area, allowing Skriniar to simply redirect the ball into the net with a well-placed header.18:37

  43. 30'

GOAL!!! SKRINIAR HEADS IN A SECOND FOR INTER!!! Dimarco swings a corner in from the right and the defender loses his marker, arriving in space to glance a header past Skorupski from six yards! It's 2-0 to Inter now!

  44. 29'

That injury forces Correa off early now, with fellow summer signing Dzeko coming on to partner Martinez in attack.18:34

  45. 27'

Correa is back up and play has resumed but he doesn't look right at all. Inzaghi is already preparing a change on the sidelines.18:34

  46. 25'

Correa goes down off the ball and appears to be in some pain. It's possible he collided awkwardly with someone as Inter peppered the Bologna box with crosses over the last minute.18:32

  47. 23'

De Silvestri is the first player to go into the book after a very clumsy challenge on Correa. An easy decision for the referee.18:27

  48. 21'

Brozovic tries to test Skorupski from range after good work from Dumfries down the right, but his effort is tame and the Bologna keeper gathers easily.18:26

  49. 19'

CLOSE! What a chance for Bologna to equalise! Soriano is played in down the left side of the box and steers a shot across goal that Handanovic palms up into the air. It falls for Sansone on the penalty spot and the attacking midfielder lashes a vicious half-volley towards the top-left corner, but it flies agonisingly wide!18:24

  50. 17'

Inter are starting to take control of proceedings and are enjoying their first extended spell of possession, forcing Bologna to defend deep and remain organised.18:22

  51. 15'

A couple of fouls break up the flow of the game, which has been a little disjointed since Martinez's opening goal.18:20

  52. 13'

NO PENALTY! Sansone whips a free-kick into the box that Bonifazi flicks on and it deflects off Bastoni on the way through to Handanovic, who dives to punch clear. There are furious appeals for handball, but the referee waves them away.18:19

  53. 10'

Mihajlovic cuts a frustrated figure on the touchline. His men had started promisingly, but were caught out by a clinical counter-attack and are now chasing the game.18:16

  54. 8'

Coming into the contest, Martinez had failed to score in five Serie A games against Bologna, the most of any side other than Roma (six games), but has broken his duck against the Emiliani inside the opening six minutes this evening.18:15

  55. 6'

Dumfries made up considerable distance as he dragged his side forward on the break before producing a delivery of real quality into a dangerous area that Martinez simply had to guide into the net.18:12

  56. 6'

GOAL!!! MARTINEZ FIRES INTER IN FRONT!!! Dumfries leads a ruthless counter down the right and gets to the corner of the box before producing a terrific low cross that Martinez guides into the top-left corner from close range! It's 1-0 to Inter!

    We're underway at San Siro!18:03

  59. Bologna have equalled their best start to a Serie A season in the three points for a win era (7 points as in 2019/20 and 2002/03); the last time they won at least three of their first four games in a top-flight campaign was back in 2001/02.17:50

  60. Bologna have won four of their last nine Serie A away matches against Inter (D2, L3): since 2011/12, only Juventus (5) have picked up more wins at San Siro against the Nerazzurri than the Emiliani (4).19:37

  61. Meanwhile, Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic makes two alterations despite his side's 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona last time out. Olsen and Sansone come into the starting line-up, with Orsolini and Barrow finding themselves on the bench.17:41

  62. Inter manager Simone Inzaghi makes four changes after the 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday. Darmian, Calhanoglu, Perisic and Dzeko all drop to the bench, with Dumfries, Vecino, Dimarco and Correa replacing them in the side.17:35

  63. Bologna substitutes: Arthur Theate, Emanuel Vignato, Sydney van Hooijdonk, Riccardo Orsolini, Adama Soumaoro, Luis Binks, Wisdom Amey, Federico Santander, Ibrahima Mbaye, Mitchell Dijks, Musa Barrow, Francesco Bardi.17:21

  64. Bologna (4-2-3-1): Lukasz Skorupski; Lorenzo De Silvestri, Gary Medel, Kevin Bonifazi, Aaron Hickey; Nicolas Dominguez, Mattias Svanberg; Andreas Skov Olsen, Roberto Soriano, Nicola Sansone; Marko Arnautovic.17:20

  65. Inter substitutes: Andrea Ranocchia, Alexis Sanchez, Matteo Darmian, Alex Cordaz, Aleksandar Kolarov, Roberto Gagliardini, Ionut Radu, Edin Dzeko, Ivan Perisic, Hakan Calhanoglu, Martin Satriano, Danilo D'Ambrosio.17:19

  66. Inter (3-1-4-2): Samir Handanovic; Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrj, Alessandro Bastoni; Marcelo Brozovic; Denzel Dumfries, Nico Barella, Matias Vecino, Federico Dimarco; Joaquin Correa, Lautaro Martinez.17:17

  67. A win for Inter would take the reigning Serie A champions to the top of the table - at least temporarily. However, they must overcome a Bologna side who are level on points with the Nerazzurri after three games.17:14
