Napoli move to the top of Serie A after beating Milan 2-1 at San Siro. After a goalless first half, where Meret denied Giroud with a fantastic save, it was the visitors who took the lead through a penalty from Politano. The Italian took responsibility after VAR stepped in to give a spot-kick, with Dest bringing down Kvaratskhelia. The 29-year-old drove the ball under a frustrated Maignan, who should have done better. Milan responded well, with Giroud turning in a low cross from Hernandez, but it was Spalletti's side who took home all three points. Left out of the starting side, substitute Simeone directed Rui's cross into the bottom corner to send the away dugout into raptures. The hosts did have an opportunity to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, but Kalulu rattled the bar from close range.

After the international break, Milan travel to Empoli in Serie A, with Napoli hosting Torino.

That’s all for today. Goodbye!

  42. 47'

  43. 46'

The game is back underway for the second half. 21:50

Substitution for Milan. Calabria, who is on a yellow card, is replaced by Dest.21:50

  45. 46'

Substitution for Milan. Kjaer is replaced by Kalulu.21:49

  46. Napoli have scored more goals than Milan in Serie A this season, but have looked poor in attack compared to Pioli's side. The incoming Raspadori has struggled to get into the game and has failed to have a shot so far. In fact, the only attempt from the Napoli attacking line came through Politano, with his tame header saved with ease. If they want to end this match top of the table, they must look much more dangerous going forward. As for Milan, it should be more of the same. They have looked like a threat going forward and have taken plenty of shots, with Tomori and Kjaer hardly troubled.21:41

  47. With no goals so far, the teams head into the tunnel level. Milan has had the better of the game and would have been ahead if not for a fantastic reaction save from Meret. Giroud struck from inside the box after receiving the ball from Krunic, with his shot flicked onto the bar by the goalkeeper. It was one of five attempts the striker had in the first 45 minutes, but the only one on target. Napoli's best opportunity came through Politano, with his header from the right pushed away by Maignan.22:53

  48. 45'+1'

    HALF-TIME: MILAN 0-0 NAPOLI21:32

  49. 45'

Calabria gets a yellow card for pulling down Kvaratskhelia who was bursting away on the counter. 21:32

  50. 44'

De Ketelaere flicks the ball onto Saelemaekers who bursts down the right but is tackled by Lorenzo. 21:31

  51. 42'

Napoli have a chance through Kvaratskhelia who runs into the middle of the box. He receives a low cross from Politano but flicks the ball well wide of the goal.21:30

  52. 40'

Milan break through the middle of the pitch with Krunic on the ball. He looks for Hernandez down the left but his pass has too much power and the attack ends. 21:28

  53. 38'

Krunic now has a header for Milan after getting on the end of a cross from Bennacer, but he flicks the ball just wide of the Napoli goal.21:26

  54. 37'

A deep cross from Zielinski finds Politano, but his header from a tight angle is pushed away by Maignan who stretches out his right arm. 21:25

  55. 35'

Napoli have struggled to attack so far. They have had just one shot, with their single attempt being off target. 21:22

  56. 33'

Napoli have kept six clean sheets in their last nine Serie A games (0.4 goals conceded per game); that’s as many clean sheets as in their previous 25 matches (average of 1.1 goals conceded).21:20

  57. 30'

De Ketelaere, Giroud and Tonali combine outside the box before Krunic's sliding attempt is blocked. His shot had no power on it, so would not have threatened Meret if it found its way through the Napoli defence. 21:19

  58. 28'

SAVE! Bennacer's curling ball into the box is met by an unmarked Krunic. Powering a header towards the goal, Meret pushes the ball over. If his attempt was not as central, the goalkeeper may have struggled to save it. 21:16

  59. 26'

CLOSE! De Ketelaere and Krunic play a one-two with the former playing the ball across the box. Giroud attempts a scorpion kick having moved in front of the ball, sending it over. Calabria is cutting a frustrated figure as the ball was going to land at his feet inside the box.21:16

  60. 24'

Politano plays the ball to Lorenzo who bursts down the right with his cross blocked out for a corner. 21:10

  61. 23'

Bennacer pulls back Zielinski who was racing away on the counter. The Milan man is lucky to get away without a yellow card for the challenge. 21:09

  62. 21'

Hernandez looks for Giroud with a cross from the left but the former Chelsea man heads the ball well over. 21:08

  63. 19'

The cross from Zielinski hits the left arm of de Ketelaere inside the box. However, his arms are by his side so no penalty is given. 21:07

  64. 18'

Kjaer gets the first yellow card of the game for a crunching challenge on Kvaratskhelia just outside the box. He left a leg out after the winger dribbled the ball past him on the left.21:06

  65. 17'

Calabria and Saelemaekers combine again with the former then looking for de Ketelaere who goes bursting into the box. However, the pass is intercepted. 21:04

  66. 15'

Calabria looks for Saelemaekers down the right but his pass is cleared away by Rui. 21:02

  67. 13'

WHAT A SAVE! Krunic finds Giroud on the edge with a reverse pass. Taking a shot, Giroud's strike is saved onto the bar by Meret with the ball going out for a corner. 21:00

  68. 11'

Napoli have their first chance in Milan's third. Politano cuts the ball onto his left looking for Kvaratskhelia but his cross has too much power and goes out for a goal-kick. 20:58

  69. 9'

CLOSE! Krunic lays the ball off to Hernandez who goes bursting down the left, but his low shot goes wide of the far post. 20:56

  70. 8'

Tonali's ball into the box is cleared away as far as Hernandez on the edge. Shaping to shoot, his bouncing volley deflects off of Giroud for a goal-kick. 20:57

  71. 7'

Milan win another corner with Calabria's low cross deflected out by Rui who tracked his run. 20:53

  72. 6'

Milan have lost their last two home league games against Napoli, both with a score of 0-1. Only in 1979 did the Rossoneri suffer three home consecutive defeats against Napoli in Serie A and they’ve never gone three games against them in a row without scoring.20:52

  73. 4'

Early corner for Milan. Bennacer puts the ball in from the right after Tonali runs past it but it is cleared away.20:51

  74. 2'

Kvaratskhelia makes an early dash down the left but is brushed off the ball by Kjaer. The Napoli man wants a free-kick but nothing is given. 20:48
