Following an action-packed match, Sassuolo leave Giuseppe Meazza with all three points after a second-half comeback. A pinpoint effort from Calhanoglu opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, but the visitors came out firing in the second half. 12 minutes after coming on, Raspadori steered Toljan’s misplaced shot into the bottom-left corner, before the substitute bagged his brace on 83 minutes with a well-placed drive beyond Donnarumma. Milan pushed for an equaliser, but the Neroverdi defended resolutely to see out the win.

Milan will hope to get back to winning ways in their next Serie A match, which is away against Lazio. Sassuolo, on the other hand, aim to make it four consecutive league wins when they host Sampdoria.

That brings an end to our coverage of the Serie A clash between Milan and Sassuolo at Giuseppe Meazza. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!

  22. 70'

  23. 69'

Leao picks the ball up in the inside-right channel and Ferrari continues to back away from him. The Portuguese attacker goes for goal, and his strike is gathered in the centre of the goal by Consigli. 20:00

  24. 68'

Dalot once again advances down the left and the space opens up for him inside. The full-back goes one way and then the other, before lashing an ambitious left-footed effort well wide of Consigli’s goal. 19:58

  25. 66'

OPENING! Berardi drives down the right and slides a well-weighted throughball into the Milan box for Traore. The substitute latches onto the pass but sends his close-range shot beyond the near post. 19:56

  26. 64'

  29. 61'

ANOTHER STOP! Calhanoglu picks the ball up on the edge of the box, opens up his body, and looks to curl a shot inside the near post. Consigli is alert and dives across to his right to make the save. 19:53

  30. 60'

Djuricic picks up the first yellow card of the match for cynically sliding in on Leao on the halfway line as the attacker looked to break. He can have no complaints with that decision. 19:51

  31. 59'

Calhanoglu swings a corner in from the left, but Kessie is adjudged to have fouled Berardi at the near post. Sassuolo get a free-kick inside their box. 19:51

  32. 57'

Milan have failed to win each of their last two home matches in Serie A on a Wednesday. The last time the Rossoneri played three league games in a row without winning on this day of the week was back in October 2009. 19:48

  33. 55'

DECENT STRIKE! Kjaer’s forward pass beyond the lines is taken down by Rebic, who tees it up for Saelemaekers. The Belgian sets himself before seeing his well-struck shot from range parried away by Consigli. 19:47

  34. 53'

WIDE! Kyriakopoulos' out-swinging cross from the right following a short corner is headed wide of the far post by Ferrari. That was not too far away. 19:46

  35. 52'

After several ricochets on the edge of the penalty area, the ball drops to Defrel, who fires a shot straight at Donnarumma. 19:43

  36. 51'

Sassuolo are enjoying much of the early possession in the second half. Boga skips beyond Saelemaekers and looks to slide a throughball into Defrel’s path, but Kjaer stands tall to black to the ball on the edge of the box.19:42

  37. 49'

The away side advance the play down the right through Berardi, who cuts onto his left foot and wins a corner from Kjaer. The set-piece is hooked to safety by Rebic. 19:39

  38. 48'

Leao clatters through the back of Locatelli in seeking to win an aerial duel, and Sassuolo win a free-kick midway inside their own half. 19:37

  39. 46'

We are back underway! Sacchi, the referee, blows his whistle and Milan get the second half kicked off. 19:35

  40. Pioli will be pleased by his side’s first-half performance, and will hope for much of the same after the restart. Calhanoglu has continually picked up dangerous positions between the lines to make things happen, while Leao’s tireless running is stretching the visitors’ defence. De Zerbi, on the other hand, will want to see more from his team in the second half. Djuricic has been the danger man thus far, and the Neroverdi will look to get the ball to him at every opportunity in the remaining 45 minutes. 19:26

  41. After a tightly-contested opening half, Milan take a one-goal lead in at half-time. The Rossoneri started on the front foot, but the best early chance fell to Boga, who was denied at close range by Donnarumma after 13 minutes. On the half-hour mark, Pioli’s side found the breakthrough. A switch of play into Calhanoglu opened up the space for the Turkish international to pick out the top-right corner with a curling strike. Berardi came close to levelling the score on the brink of half-time, although a last-ditch tackle from Dalot kept the visitors at bay. 19:22

  42. 45'+1'

    HALF TIME: MILAN 1-0 SASSUOLO19:19

  43. 45'

There will be one minute of added time at the end of the first half.19:18

  44. 43'

VITAL BLOCK! Djuricic drops into a pocket of space a few yards outside the hosts’ penalty area and receives the ball from the left. The midfielder lifts his head up and lays a pass off to Berardi, who sees his close-range shot deflected out for corner off Dalot. 19:17

  45. 41'

The visitors look to advance down the left, but Kyriakopoulos’ pass into Djuricic is overhit and Kjaer comes across to put the ball out for a throw-in. 19:15

  46. 39'

Berardi is being tightly marked by Dalot, and the full-back is adjudged to have been a little too physical in trying to regain possession for the Rossoneri. Free-kick to Sassuolo down the right flank.19:13

  47. 37'

Milan have won their last two Serie A games. The last time they enjoyed a longer run was last January, and that streak began against Sassuolo. 19:11

  48. 35'

Sassuolo look to work a short corner from the right into the box. Locatelli’s out-swinging cross following the set-piece is closed down by Calhanoglu and the hosts clear their lines. 19:09

  49. 33'

Leao tries his luck from range after being picked out by Kessie, but his driven effort misses to the right of Consigli’s goal. 19:08

  50. 32'

Locatelli catches Kessie and the referee awards Milan a free-kick inside their own half. 19:07

  51. 30'

Calabria deserves credit for his part in the goal. The full-back began the move with a powerful throw-in down the right-hand side to set Saelemaekers away, and he showed great composure to play a well-weighted pass to Calhanoglu. The resulting strike was out of the top drawer, leaving Consigli with no chance. 19:06

  52. 30'

GOOOOAAAALLLL! What a superb strike! After some neat play down the far side, Saelemaekers switches the ball over to the left. Calhanoglu receives the pass, takes a couple of touches to get the ball out of his feet, and curls his shot into the top-right corner from the left side of the box. 1-0.

    See Hakan Calhanoglu's player card19:04

    Hakan Calhanoglu
  53. 28'

Dalot picks out Calhanoglu in the inside-left channel, and the midfielder turns onto his right foot before floating a cross into the box. The delivery evades everyone and runs behind for a goal-kick. 19:02

  54. 26'

GOAL-SAVING BLOCK! Dalot lifts an inch-perfect throughball into the box and beyond the visitors’ defence for Leao to chase. The striker controls it well and sets himself for a left-footed shot, but Kyriakopoulos dives across to deflect the strike behind for a corner. 19:00

  55. 24'

NOT FAR AWAY! Berardi looks to bend the ball into the top-right corner, but he just does not get enough dip on the strike and it sails just over the bar. 18:57

  56. 23'

Berardi slips the ball through Meite’s legs and wins a free-kick right on the edge of the Milan box from the Frenchman. Berardi is standing over the set-piece. 18:56

  57. 21'

Kjaer launches a long, searching pass down the field for Rebic to chase, although the Croatian just made his run a fraction too early and is flagged for offside. 18:54

  58. 19'

Djuricic is seeing plenty of the ball at the moment. This time he drifts over to the left to try and make something happen, but the move breaks down as Kyriakopoulos is tackled by Meite. 18:55

  59. 17'

Calhanoglu floats a cross deep into the box, and Calabria arrives to steer a tame header wide to the right of Consigli’s goal. 18:50

  60. 15'

There is going to be a brief stoppage in play as Kjaer is down after clashing with Donnarumma from the resulting corner. He is now back to his feet. 18:48

  61. 13'

GREAT CHANCE! Milan fail to deal with a cross from the left and Djuricic plays a clever reverse pass into Boga’s path. From the left side of the box, the Ivorian places his side-footed effort straight at Donnarumma, who made himself big to make the stop. 18:47

  62. 11'

ON TARGET! Dalot finds himself high up the field and darts inside onto his right foot. The full-back opts to tries his luck from the edge of the box, although his pulled shot is comfortably saved by Consigli at the near post.18:45

  63. 9'

Some one-touch passing in the centre of the pitch creates space for Saelemaekers, who turns and looks to play a throughball down the left for Rebic. Muldur read the danger and slid in to make a vital interception. 18:43

  64. 7'

Kessie slides the ball down the right flank for Leao, who opts to drive at Kyriakopoulos. The striker skips past his man and delivers a low cross into the box, which Marlon knocks to safety. 18:40

  65. 5'

GOOD STOP! Calhanoglu picks the ball up on the edge of the Sassuolo penalty area and cuts onto his right foot. The Turkish midfielder looks to fire across the goal, and Consigli is down quickly to make the save. 18:39

  66. 3'

The away side are pressing high up the park in the opening exchanges in seeking to put Milan under some early pressure. Donnarumma plays a slack pass down the left flank, and Berardi wins a throw-in from Dalot. 18:35

  67. 1'

Kick-off! The referee, Juan Luca Sacchi, blows his whistle and Sassuolo get the game underway.18:33

  68. The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Giuseppe Meazza. 18:27

  70. The hosts come into this match second in Serie A. Pioli’s team are nine points behind first-placed Inter and two ahead of Atalanta. Sassuolo, meanwhile, are currently in eighth place. The visitors have, however, won just two of their last six away fixtures, and have conceded nine goals in that time.18:21

  71. Stefano Pioli makes three alterations from the Milan line-up that beat Genoa last time out. Calabria, Dalot and Meite come in to start in place of Kalulu, Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennacer. The latter misses out with an ankle injury. Roberto De Zerbi, meanwhile, makes five changes for this clash.
